At Creveling Sawmill, we provide all the lumber that a construction company needs. Some of our primary business has always been trailer decking and truck sideboards (bang boards). We can provide lengths up to 22', in a variety of thickness and width. Thickness is typically ordered in ¼" increments and standard sizes are 1-1/2", 1-3/4", and 2" although we have produced thicker materials for extremely heavy applications.
Treated pine boards do not withstand the test of time when it comes to construction. If you are using a trailer to haul snowmobiles up to a retreat a few times a year, you can get material from a big chain store. Hardwoods, on the other hand, have much better performance against heavy equipment (track damage, bucket damage, etc.) A typical example would be side boards/bang boards. These are the boards which protect the top of a dump body from damage during loading. A true hardwood, such as oak, has the mechanical properties to resist damage, unlike their softwood (SPF) counterparts. We can make sideboards in a variety of thicknesses, widths, and lengths.
The final product in this group is bridge decking. Standard thicknesses customers have purchased are 3" or 4", but the actual size is dependent on the designer and application. We have fabricated bridge decking up to 8" thick for special applications. Standard widths range from 6" to 12", although other sizes can be fabricated. See more information on our bridge decking page.
If you are looking for true hard-hardwoods (not treated softwoods) that can stand up to the bumps and bruises of a construction company, then you've come to the right place. And we don't have it in stock, we can cut it to suit your needs.
